There was a Louisiana Waterthrush in the Gill east of Laupot Bridge in
the Ramble, Central Park, this afternoon (Saturday 7/21) about
4:30PM.

I felt an update was warranted given the turnover in birds that I and
others observed today at Jamaica Bay on the East Pond. It seems a lot of
birds booked it last night, with the biggest cut coming from Short-billed
Dowitchers!
Shorebird numbers were way down from just a day ago. Especially,
Betsy and I stopped twice at the Modern Landfill Wetland on Porter-Center Rd
in the Town of Lewiston today. I looked thoroughly around noon and we
looked briefly again after 5:00 but did not see the ibis. A pair of birders
there on our second stop had been there over half an hour without seeing
A quick walk through Kissena Park netted lots of fledgling robins, a
mildly surprising wood thrush and a very surprising yellow-bellied
sapsucker. I have seen sapsuckers in Kissena Park twice before, but
never at this time of year. It was located in the wooded area in the
south-east corner of the

There were sporadic reports of neither "Rufous" (male) Ruff or the female type
Reeve being seen today on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay. While on the other
hand there some reports of folks seeing 1 Ruff. I just confirmed that at least
"Rufous Ruff" is still here!

Still present and putting on quite a show inside of the creek that dead ends on
Dam Trail. The bird has been working in and out of the creek so its worth
checking several of the dead end streets within Reeves Bay. What a great
looking bird.
