Central Park was quite interesting birding today. Though overall activity was
rather low for most of the day, diversity was decent and there were a few
interesting birds around. The outstanding highlight was an EASTERN
WHIP-POOR-WILL found by Andrew Ruebenfeld (apologies to Andrew if

Gary Chapin and I are currently watching a Hudsonian Godwit on the east pond at
Jamaica Bay. We are looking from the raunt directly across on the far mudflat.

I birded Robert Moses S.P. for a couple of hours this morning, where I met up
with Dave Klauber. Thankfully the wind died and things warmed up a bit. Not a
whole lot of birds but a highlight was my first Fall Clay-colored Sparrow. It
was found in the scrub area west of the picnic tables at
