Highlights of the Saturday morning bird walk include: Golden Crowned Kinglet
and Red Winged Blackbird. Although it was quite soggy, this morning, we managed
to find:
Downy woodpecker -1
Red bellied woodpecker -2
Tufted titmouse -6
Chickadee-3
White breasted nuthatch -1
Cardinal - 3 males, in
Just a follow-up to this morning's Brooklyn Black-headed Gull sighting. A big
thanks to Sean Sime for posting to the list for me.
This morning Heydi Lopes and I spent a couple of hours birding around Coney
Island, first along the South side of the peninsula, then along Coney Island
Creek and
A small group of birders this morning looked unsuccessfully for the
Barnacle Goose at Belmont Lake State Park.
As a consolation, we enjoyed looks at Wood Ducks (tallied at 19), Iceland
Gull (dark immature) and a very neat looking Pintail x Mallard Hybrid
picked out by Brent Bomkamp as it tried to
Patricia and I decided to run east this morning, hoping to get some birding in
before conditions got really bad.
Visibility at Montauk Pt was decent, and we enjoyed great looks at 20 or so
Razorbills and one adult Kittiwake, very close, in addition to the standard
duckage.
Highlights at Lake
8 birders were out looking for the Snowy Owl on Randall's Island from 3 pm
til dusk - no bird. We covered most of the open area by foot and car.
Several of us did see a raven though.

and Bayville,,,I'm asking for help identifying a few..the first are gulls
from Point Lookout which I'm fairly certain are Bonaparte Gulls. For some
