This morning, after a late start, I found the North Fork Preserve in
Jamesport to be slow, getting my FOS White-eyed Vireo, in addition to the
following raptors: Turkey Vulture; N.Harrier; Red-tailed Hawk, Osprey and
Great-horned Owl.
Since it was on the way to Hunter's Garden in Eastport, I took
5/14/14 Long Lake & Minerva (Hamilton and Essex Counties)
*Swainson's Thrush - 1 in Minerva
*Scarlet Tanager - 1 outside our house
Two Barred Owls vocalized on and off through the night. We hear them every
night - sometimes, it seems as if one is only a few feet from the baby
monitor we
Added 3 new warblers to my back yard list today. Cerulean, Bay Breasted and
Chestnut Sided. All visiting a smal pond with waterfall I built for just
this reason. 6 Other warblers also present within a half hour span. Felt
like an Isolated fallout. I am usually lucky if I can add a new BYB
The Lincoln Sparrow was relocated with the help of my good friend and city
birder Mike at the southeast corner by the shed. The park is crowded with
people so I'm guessing the Lincoln Sparrow needed something more secluded.
Also saw Common Yellowthroats - park is crawling with Ovenbirds..

Simply a 'tails-up' or something like that, with at least 2
observations of Fork-tailed Flycatcher these last 2 days, one in Kane
County, Illinois, the other bit more in this neighborhood at Mount
Auburn cemetery (very near Boston, Mass. in the towns of Cambridge &

this morning, from around 9:30 to 11:00.
As usual, I parked at the free area off Sleepy Hollow Road and walked up
(northeast) the main path, Old Sleepy Hollow trial.
