Doodletown Road is a famous birding spot in northern Rockland County. I was there around 5:00 pm and ran into a rattlesnake just along the main path.  I and two other people heard its "rattle", which was more like a buzz.  This was about 75% of the way up to the top, just past the sign for

I looked for the Tricolored Heron twice today. At 11:30 I scoped the area carefully from the town boat ramp but could not find it. An hour later I stopped in again and the heron was hiding in the large willow tree that is just north of the four private docks, along the west side of the creek.

Two birders, who's names escape me as I type this, sincere apologies, found a male Eastern Bluebird just off the northern point of the main ridge trail in the "brushfire area". James Knox and I relocated the bird and got several good looks at him. To access the brushfire area, take the path
