OBS: Robert DeCandido, PhD, Deborah Allen, m.ob. on bird walks starting from
the Boathouse at 7:30 and 9:00am until around noon.
Bob & I split the group today, so the list combines all sightings for the
morning. Reservoir birds were seen before 8am.

Bob & I split the group today, so the list combines all sightings for the
morning. Reservoir birds were seen before 8am.
Our City Island Birds club walked Hunter Island this morning on a gray, damp
and cool morning. The “bird of the day” were Baltimore Orioles, which seemed to
all over the island. Interestingly there were no sparrows except for one
White-throat calling in the distance. Special thanks to “Big Bob”

Danielle Gustafson and I had a Mississippi kite flying over Prospect Park that
we caught sight of while we were in the Brooklyn botanical garden. It circled,
gained altitude and flew over the BBG heading northeast between 12:05 and 12:10
PM today. Probably a female.

A thorough sweep of Hempstead Lake this morning turned up several good birds
reported for the past week. Previously Cliff and Bank Swallows remain, feeding
among their commoner cousins. I tallied 11 warbler species, including a
continuing Orange-crowned, Redstart, Nashville, Blue-winged,
