I just had a small burst of activity over my house. At least 8 Swainson’s
Thrush as well as 2 Gray-cheeked Thrush and 2 Common Nighthawks. While I
have had the thrushes call in the middle of the night, I don’t recall ever
hearing nighthawks at this hour.

Technically I’m in New Jersey, but I just photographed a Mississippi kite at
the stateline lookout, between exits 2 and 3 on the palisades parkway north,
about 10 miles north of the George Washington bridge. It headed south from

5/21: An adult male PAINTED BUNTING was seen and photographed at a feeder in
Syracuse, Onondaga County. Unfortunately the bird was not relocated since.

Currently, the previously reported Sandhill Crane is still in the field, south
of the Fish Factory in Napeague. One must walk down the sandy Trail, along
the RR tracks, nearer the houses on the west and south of Cranberry Hill Rd. to
see the bird.
