Harlequins at Pt Lookout today. 2, adult drake and hen, were in the inlet and

There were 3 Avocets floating about 25 feet off the beach at the end of the
trail from the Nature Center at Jones Beach at 10 AM. After I and my wife,
Tracy Meade, saw them and got some adequate pictures, the birds took off for
parts unknown. I'll post photos later.

West Pond, the benches are gone and the trails are eroded as well as . The

Both rarities were still on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
this morning.
The Pelican was lounging up by the Island and Pat Lindsay helped me get on
the Baird's Sandpiper (finally for me) which was on the open mudflats
moving with some Semipalmated SPs on the east side of the East

I received a call from Rich Fried to say that the Yellow-headed Blackbird
continues at Captree State Park as of 3 PM. It is mixed in with Starlings,
Cowbirds and Red-wings in and around the circle drive just inside the park

for me, I was able to do a seawatch from the oceanside boardwalk at Cupsogue
from 6 to 8:30 AM. There was not a lot of action over the water but I

I was at Rockefeller SP in Westchester County at 6:30 AM today and located
one of the two Kentucky Warblers reported yesterday, the one with the two
part song. He was located exactly where Benjamin Van Doren indicated, south
and west of the southern intersection of Overlook and Ash Loop Trails.

I spotted a Prothonotary Warbler this morning from Terrace Bridge in
Prospect Park looking south over the lower Lullwater. The bird landed in a
tree right below me and then flew down close to the water and moved around
the marshy edge of the Lull. I ran around and below in an attempt to follow

in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. The word went out that it had been seen in the

north shore of the lake in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Many eyes are on it now.

I stopped in at Return-a-gift Pond at Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn this
afternoon hoping to find a Blue-winged Teal but was greeted instead by 25+
Black-crowned Night Herons roosting in the tree in the middle of the pond
and in the Phragmites surrounding the pond. Quite a nice spring sight!

Bob O'Neill found a very cooperative Wilson's Snipe in the Vale of Cashmere
in the northern end of Brooklyn's Prospect Park and then later refound the
Pine Warbler found yesterday in the Vale by Eddie Davis. Today the warbler
was on the path above the Rose Garden not far from the Vale. Red Tails
