Eagles are back in the Hudson Valley. This morning there were 5 at Ossining train station, 2 between Ossining and Scarborough (station) and 5 more between Scarborough and Philips Manor. One perched the rest on ice or flying low over it. I would imagine far more north of Ossining Saturday 2/9

I stopped by George's island Sunday 4 pm for first time this season (I spend all day there for Eagle Fest -- this year it's Saturday 2/7) and there were ten eagles perched. No ice at GI but there is river ice around the bend at Verplank pier, also at Charles Point and up to ansville circle

Spotted both a mature and immature Bald Eagle at HLSP today. They seem to be prefer the northern most edge of the lake and the lake just north of the Southern State Parkway. The eagles got into a bit of an aerial display and were actually locking talons. Pretty cool to see over a nassau county

The lower Hudson Valley has become the eastern USA's Homer/Chilkat, AK in many ways. Can't think of a more reliable place to spot bald eagles in the winter, or bring non-birders to introduce them to this rewarding activity. I know all of the roosting/viewing spots along the eastern shore of the
