The Gray-Hooded Gull might still be in the area. It clearly seems to have
arrived at the beach from somewhere else on the days it has been seen and has
been seen to fly off to somewhere else later in the day. Let's pool information:
For each day it has been seen:
What has been its arrival time?
What has been its departure time?
If seen to fly in from somewhere else, from what direction and at what time?
If seen to fly off to somewhere else, in what direction and at what time?

In that way, we may be able to obtain a better understanding of the bird's
habits and possibly locate its roosting area and alternate feeding sites.

Query: has anyone checked the party boat docks on the north side of Sheepshead
Bay? When I saw the bird depart on August 1st between 6:45 and 7:00 PM, it was
seen to fly first east along the beach and then curve inland over the Aquarium
parking lot in a direct line to the westerly end of Sheepshead Bay, a
relatively short flight away. The party boats come back in the mid to late
afternoon and probably shed fish scraps along the way or while at the dock.

I just received a note from a friend out at Coney Island. As of 3:25pm, the
gull
has NOT been seen today.
