Hi all,

This afternoon, roughly between 1 and 2 PM, my mom and I observed one CAVE
SWALLOW foraging around the West End 2 parking lot and the far west entrance
to the parking lot. It was loosely associating with some Tree Swallows, but
seemed to be avoiding the larger group of them that would occasionally rest
on the ground. The Cave Swallow was often foraging low and would disappear
for five or more minutes at a time before suddenly reappearing. The bird
appeared to be an adult. The NORTHERN SHRIKE also put in a brief appearance
near the boardwalk to the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. There was little of
interest seen from the Coast Guard Station, although it looked like a very
large flock of Bonaparte's Gulls (several thousand) had gathered on the far
side of the bay.

Good birding,

Shawn Billerman
