I spent the day at the Massapequa Preserve. I saw 53 species, pretty good for a winter's day of birding. There were some early arrivals, like a pair of ospreys, a pair of great egrets, a hermit thrush and some tree sparrows. Somewhat rare according to ebird were three Eurasian wigeons. The most
