My father just sent me a picture of a Pink-footed Goose at Valley Stream's
Hendrickson Park, sitting with a small group of Canada's on the eastern shore

A Pink-footed Goose was sleeping on the ice at Merritt's Pond in Riverhead,
Long Island this morning, very likely the same bird that was present nearby in
January. The only way to view this pond is from the road in a quiet residential

Holtsville soccer field, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, and Sachem High School.The

I was able to get a few decent photos of the Pink-footed Goose in
Holtsville this evening. If you go and are interested in getting a little
closer for photography without making all of the birds fly and walk away
there's a fence that runs along the eastern sides of the field and for the
most part
At 4:45 PM I observed a Pink-footed Goose foraging in a large soccer field in
Holtsville.
The field is located along the North service road of the Long Island
Expressway, just west of Blue Point Road. You can't miss it.
The goose was still present at 5:30 PM when I left the site. It was among

Late this afternoon while out looking for Cackling Goose in Queens, I found
a Pink-footed Goose. The location may not be very familiar to many, so I
have tried to map it out and posted additional information on my blog. See

The Pink-footed Goose was reported early today (by a member of our local club),
in the same ponds as in the last post to this list.

I was wondering if people have been searching for the Pink-footed goose in
Middletown lately. Amy and I are in upstate NY and considering looking for
the bird. I would appreciate any negative reports. Thanks.

Kevin McGann and I went to Middletown to see if the Pink-footed Goose was still
around. We checked all of the spots Curt mentioned plus the ponds across from
the Psychiatric Center on Route 17M with no success. Most of the geese we did
find were on the pond visible from the foot trail off 6 &

I wanted to update the status of the PfG for anyone considering
searching for it this weekend. To my knowledge, the bird was last seen on
Wednesday morning by Rob Bate and Rich Fried.
It is very possible that this bird is still around and has just not been
relocated

As Rob Bate reported yesterday, he and I were fortunate to find the Pink-footed
Goose in Middletown in a shopping center parking lot near the site where it was
originally discovered. I was able to get a handful of digi-binned photos before
the goose took off. For those interested the photos
Same commercial plaza off Dunning Road NW of intersection of Schutt Rd in
Mechanicsville as yesterday, now in median of parking lot in front of Toys-R-Us
with 10 or so Canada Geese.
