At least 5 Arctic Terns were present today between 1:45 pm and 3:30 pm on the
bayside flats. Lifers for me. Well, today I saw multiple field marks on
multiple individuals very well. Which hasn't always been the case during the
many hours I have spent alone on the flats over the last several

Good day on the South Shore today.
First sighting was a cuckoo flying across the Loop Parkway around 7 AM. Field
marks suggested Black-billed, but I feel like they would be less likely at this
time of year. Perhaps a late migrant?
Second sighting was of roosting terns by the Black
There is a report of a WHITE PELICAN seen today at Piermont Pier, Rockland
County.
Maybe the same bird that was seen at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, Sunday?
If this bird is the same one, maybe it will follow the pattern of previous
White Pelicans. Next stop Sandy Hook, New Jersey?

was seen at Nickerson Beach among a flock of Common Tern. The adult Black Tern
was also located at about 7:45 p.m. on the east side of the beach among a flock
