On a recent trip to the east pond some yellow sheets of paper
were found in the water with bird sightings for 2013 listed
the wet papers were scanned and if they were yours and
would like the images of the papers you lost, please contact me off list

Yes - I saw the bird yesterday at noon. It was near the rusty metal wire at the
far west of the flats. It was feeding actively and then stopped and went to
sleep under the metal - so check there if you don't see it running around.

For those interested in looking for the Curlew Sandpiper at Mecox, you can
purchase a one day pass at Cameron Beach, which is a Town of Southampton public
ocean beach.
The cost is $20 per car for the day. Perhaps, negotiating with the attendant
may be worth a try. Cameron is on the east side

I would advise everyone to NOT "negotiate" with the attendants who are summer
employees of the Town. It is likely illegal for them to allow admittance of any
vehicles without the requisite fee. They could be fired or otherwise
reprimanded for this.

Birds was seen well just below the Royal Oak field. Coming from Royal Oak head
down the main road, go down hill on the road that leads to the restaurant and
almost immediately make a right onto a dirt road. The bird was part of a large
mixed flock. It was seen in an open fieldy are on the rig

Just received word that Jim Cullen & Lee Stocker had the Curlew Sandpiper
back in the usual spot on the west side of Mecox around 2:00 pm today.

Since none of the birders I saw on the pond this morning did a report, I
figured I would put out an update.
The AMERICAN AVOCET continued this morning on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay
Wildlife Refuge, in Queens.
However, the WILSON's PHALAROPE was not seen. I and others could have
missed it or the
