[nysbirds-l] Kiskadee in NYC

The Bermuda population of Great Kiskadee is introduced so I suppose even if the bird can be proven to be from there it's not "countable" no matter how it arrived in NYC? Paul Sweet -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME

2011-09-06 Thread Benjamin Van Doren
Hi all, Wheatear was still there as of 6 PM. Frequenting the fence along the train tracks but also flying all around the area, perching in trees, on a garbage can, and often staying on the ground inside the train track fence. Luckily, the many trains moving by would flush the bird onto the fence

Nothing conclusive, but the tail end looks kind of ratty in the 3rd photo and the bird almost seems to be begging for food in the first. Maybe a shipboard pet? Mike Cooper Ridge, LI, NY -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME

Update:  easily visible from around 2:50 - 3:10pm when I left. killer looks. When I left it was perched on top of a gravel pile, about 6 feet off the ground. Plenty of easy parking here.  Just keep driving south. 41.184524, -73.879591 Bob Lewis Sleepy Hollow NY -- NYSbirds-L List Info:
