Hi all, This afternoon, Mary Beth Billerman and I headed to the Cupsogue flats to see what was around. Shorebird numbers were much higher than they were on Sunday, with good numbers of Short-billed Dowitchers and Semipalmated Sandpipers, as well as a couple of Western Willets with the Eastern.

The second Ruff that was found on Wednesday showed well at the north end of the east pond. It was there from 2:00-5:00pm and was still there when I left. It wandered around a lot and ranged from right at the entrance at the north west part of the pond to the island and as far south as about

At around 9 AM, one Ruff was present along the eastern shoreline of the East Pond, about 1/3 of the way from the north end. This bird was extending his ruff and chasing the yellowlegs away from his favorite mud patches! I didn't continue all the way to the south end, so the other bird may
