While birding Jones Beach this afternoon, I saw an interesting small,
Ross's -type goose along the south side of Ocean Parkway, feeding on
the lawn in front of the West Bathhouse (within the chain-link fenced
area). Dave LaMagna originally discovered and photographed this
individual

Hi, A very quiet morning at Shinnecock Inlet. More bulldozers
than birds around the jetties and no real movement of birds offshore .We
found a lone Bonaparte Gull lolling with Ringbills on the sliver of sandbar
at the inner bay. Down past Tiana parking lot by the summertime bars we
were

Turtle Cove- Red-necked Grebe (1) and Purple Sandpiper (3)
Lake Montauk Jetty - Brown Pelican and Iceland Gull (1st year)

Any sightings of the Virginia's warbler at Alley Pond Park during the weekend?
I have a friend who wants to go to Alley Pond but I have not seen any postings
regarding the Virginia's warbler in the past two days.

Since everyone so far has only mentioned the geese, I'll include that
while I was standing on the Parade Ground watching the geese, 11 Horn
Larks flew over and began foraging in the grass about 40 feet from me.

Had the Barnacle Goose, Cackling Goose, and several possible Dusky Canadas at
the Parade Ground at Van Cortlandt Park with the two large Canada Goose
flocks. The "Dusky Geese", ssp. occidentalis, seemed not only to look
different but sounded slightly different too. The cackling looks to be
Just seen at the northeast corner of ballfield #6. This is north of the soccer
field that's near the Upper Winchester parking lot.
