Yesterday afternoon, during the snow showers, I found a 1st cycle
Glaucous Gull at the Bellport Bay Yacht Club. It was still present
today at mid-morning, resting on the south dock.
My dad and I decided to head east this afternoon to check for various
waterfowl. En route, we spotted an

Sandpipers this winter (twice around Montauk and once each at Point Lookout and
Jones Beach west end), I gave it one last go after consulting eBird data which
showed that the most recent sightings had been along the ocean

Despite the chilly weather, there was a nice assortment of early spring
migrants and winter resident species at Hempstead Lake State Park (HLSP) this
morning. Upon arriving at the HLSP parking lot, I heard a Common Raven calling,
and discovered a pair in the roadway east of the parking lot
The Varied Thrush was seen East of the Cemetery off of Center Drive from 12:52
through 1:40 when I left. Other notable birds seen were:
Pine Siskin -at feeders and a few individuals near the Varied Thrush
White-winged Crossbill- small moving flock above area where the Varied Thrush
was.
I went for the Fish Crows to the foot of Hertel Avenue in Buffalo this
morning. This was my second attempt, having dipped on the previous effort.
This time I did much better, spotting four or five smaller crows and hearing
about a half-dozen FISH CROW calls. Unfortunately, I never saw a Fish
East of Quaker Cemetary. Off Center Drive. Also present a few White-winged
Crossbills, Pine Siskins and a bright European Goldfinch. Gail Benson and
Tom Burke.

The bird is on Upper Francis Pond, not Lower Francis Pond.
