The Loon I photographed yesterday at the Mouth of the Carmans River appears to be a non-breeding plumage Red-throated loon. Apparently it's been around for a few days. A photo of it (and other birds) can be seen here: http://birdsoflongisland.blogspot.com/2013/06/more-carmans-river-and-some.html
