On Sunday, after seeing Angus Wilson's posts, in addition to a phone call
from John Sep, I again ventured out to the intersection of Sound & Osborne
Aves, Riverhead, in pursuit of the elusive (for some people) Baird's
Sandpiper. Upon arrival at mid-afternoon, I found Jody Levin & Hank Bohne
Good evening everyone,
I hope no one takes offense to a non bird post but I feel this is important
enough to share since I know many folks on here bird in Forest Park Queens. I
just picked up a report that another woman was attacked in Forest Park in
Queens see the report here
Forwarding the link, since it doesn't look like his post made it to the
state list (he wasn't sure he was subscribed). I did not have my camera
with me. Karen

I passed two juvenile Piping Plovers running around the dunes as I was
leaving Nickerson Beach around 10 this morning. I believe it's a couple
of weeks late for them to still be here. According to NYC Bird Report,
the latest date they were reported at Breezy Point was August 15.

Especially for Bob Adamo if he is in the area. The Baird's continue on the
sod field at Osborne/Sound Avenues along with a few Pectoral Sandpipers.
Being observed with Tom Burke and Gail Benson. No American Golden Plover
at the moment.

Seen a few min ago, same Ramble area as reported yesterday.

Just as I pressed send a Merlin buzzed the field and flushed all the
shorebirds, causing most of them to fly west. Recommend checking all sod fields
if visiting the area.
