Just to follow up, and to cross-post this a bit, the ARCTIC TERN found by
Drew Weber yesterday morning was seen off and on all day today. It gave
sufficient but distant looks while I was there, but finally came in and sat
on the rocky spit at the Onondaga Lake Marina for Marshall Iliff this
Today, Andria and I birded in the Bronx, doing some "ground and pound" just
trying to scratch out some birds while exploring new areas in that borough.
Although, we did not cover all the places I would have liked, we managed 60
species counting only those seen well and on site.
Highlights
A couple of interesting birds from Jones Beach West End 2 (western median
strip), visited with Emily Peyton.
Didn't seem very birdy, but as happens during hawk migration, passerines
were lurking in the scrub.
Highlights:
Several Merlins hunting and/or migrating
4-5 Palm Warblers

NATURAL HISTORY, NEW YORK CITY ***
This coming Tuesday evening (Oct 8 2013) the Society will host another
back-to-back presentation. The evening will begin with a conversation with
Peter Post, a familiar name and face
There are two Orange-crowned Warblers near the beginning of the boardwalk by
the Fire Island Hawk Watch. Also a couple of Royal Terns and some Fosters Terns
on the beach.
