[nysbirds-l] Gerry Park Cackling Goose--Update?

2013-12-26 Thread Avery Scott (SkyOfBirds)
Any news on the Gerry Park Cackling Goose? I'm going to go try to find it
tomorrow or Saturday and would like some additional information. Which pond
is it in? Thanks.

[nysbirds-l] Jones Beach sea ducks

2013-12-26 Thread Nadir Souirgi
After having a look at the Sea Cliff Black Guillemot, James Knox and I
headed for Jones Beach where we had 7 Harlequin Ducks at the end of the
jetty, two of which were males in breeding plumage, and by far the the most
I've ever seen in one location in the state of New York. Also in this
mixed raft were 10-12 Common Eiders, one Surf Scoter, and, 37 Long-tailed
Ducks. Two Rudy Turnstones turned up amongst the 17 Purple Sandpipers
creeping along it's craggy edges. Though we dipped on the Northern Shrike
and the Gyr, it ended up being a great day.

Keep'em up!

This afternoon I had an adult male Northern Pintail at Aqua Lane Park in
Tonawanda (the foot of Sheridan Dr). I don't see many Pintails around this
area, particularly at this time of the year. The complete list can bee seen on

[nysbirds-l] Montauk Alcids

2013-12-26 Thread Menachem Goldstein
Great birding this morning out at Montauk Point, with almost continuous views
of Razorbills, 75 total with 13 Dovekies sprinkled in.  A couple of Wyoming
birders mentioned seeing a female Harlequin Duck west of the point but I
couldn't relocate it.  Prior to getting to Montauk, a quick stop at Shinnecock
Inlet yielded both Iceland and Glaucous Gulls.

Good Birding and Happy Holidays!

The previously reported Northern Shrike was seen east of the Teddy Roosevelt

you exit West End and head east toward the Ocean Parkway. Otherwise it was
fairly quiet. On a related bird note, this morning Sue Feustel had an
Orange-crowned Warbler on the bike path between Fields 6 & 7 feeding in the
goldenrod bordering the path. i have posted on my flickr site a distant photo

Re: [nysbirds-l] Black Guillemot Continues in Sea Cliff (Nassau Co.)

2013-12-26 Thread Mike
Plan to chase Black Guillle tomorrow morning. Driving from Staten Island, any
early morning reports either positive or negative would be helpful.

Thanks.

[nysbirds-l] Northern Pintail - Aqua Lane Park (Tonawanda)

2013-12-26 Thread joetf1973
This afternoon I had an adult male Northern Pintail at Aqua Lane Park in
Tonawanda (the foot of Sheridan Dr). I don't see many Pintails around this
area, particularly at this time of the year. The complete list can bee seen on
the link below:

Keep'em up!

Which pond
is it in? Thanks.

treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous
example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion in the only
