A single SHOOTY SHEARWATER flew west to east just beyond the breakers at Robert Moses field 2 this morning at ~8:50, providing the best shore-bound looks I've ever had of the species. Other than that bird the rest of my hour-long sea watch was eventful, with a handful of gannets and loons

Male and Female Hairy Woodpeckers. Seen at backyard suit feeder Sparkill NY. May 15-21, 2014. The pair take turns feeding from the suit feeder in the morning and early afternoon. Both the male and the female are yellow in color. You can see photos of them here:
