With the high winds forecasted for today we decided to stay away from the beach
and head inland to Massapequa Preserve (MP). We missed most the birds found on
the Southern Nassau CBC at MP, but found a few goodies. A lone Common Raven was
calling as it flew over the Least Bittern (my name)
Now at 4th and Perry.

The Couch's Kingbird is perched on a fire escape on the north side of W
11th, half a block east of W 4th.
For those who are keeping track, it was on a sunlit fire escape on the NW
corner of Perry and W 4th just before 3 PM.
Bird actually just flew south over W 11th towards Perry.

A phone call from Bob Anderson today alerted me to a Palm Warbler of the
western subspecies at Lido Preserve. The warbler was hanging out in the
garden walking around pumping its tail and keeping out of the wind. A short
detour to Point Lookout had us looking through a large flock of Common
Eiders
Sounds like it was dead over there ,,, sorry I couldn't resist

A quick drive through the grounds looking for the Barnacle or White-fronted
Geese yielded zero geese of any kind. A Peregrine was making half hearted
passes at something small in the grass and a Kestrel was on the telephone wires
along the south eastern corner of the property.
Cheers,
Sean
Bird is at Jane and Washington now.
Thanks,
