I drove around the garden a few times today, starting at noon, looking
for it and missed, as well.

managed to see all eight goose species on the NYS list within a 21 hour period
(Ross's Goose at Southaven CP at 4:40 Saturday to Pink-footed Goose in
Riverhead 1:40 Sunday), but we were unable to combine them all in
Van Cortlandt Lake is about 90% ice. But in the 10% water part I saw a
male Common Merganser today at about 3 pm, a Bronx first for me! Some
Rusty Blackbirds and a few Redwing Blackbirds rounded out the day. Happy

Spent a little over an hour with others today scouring the kingbird's usual
hangout at Floyd Bennett Field but came up empty. I'm still holding out hope
that he was able to survive on the abundant bittersweet, bayberry, juniper and
other berries around Floyd until the next thaw. Perhaps he got
Shai Mitra called and asked me to post that he and others are now viewing the
Pink-footed Goose at a location it has not previously been reported. It is on
an athletic field on the east side of Roanoke Av. just north of Route 58. This
is near Merritt's Pond.

spot the Barnacle Goose, but I did see a great blue heron and hooded and
common mergansers.

The Bohemian waxwing was seen by 10 observers this morning around 10:30
at the Perkins backyard in Miller Place, Long Island. It had been seen
earlier before everyone arrived. It returned in the company of a
starling, landed at the top of a distant tree and remained for about 10
minutes and
