Spent some time on a beautiful but chilly afternoon at the Bayard Cutting
Arboretum where we had wood ducks fly by, a Cooper's hawk circling above as
well as several osprey (including one eating a flounder on a tree at the
parking lot entrance - much to the enjoyment of everyone leaving the
Only thing of note since I’ve only seen reports upstate - a pair of Savannah
Sparrows on the parade grounds this afternoon.

The first-cycle (American) *MEW GULL* (Larus canus brachyrhynchus)
continued today in Brooklyn.
Crippling views of the bird were enjoyed with Angus Wilson who was onsite I
like was, for a while before the bird showed. First observed on the
Ballfields which unfortunately was subsequently invaded
Currently being seen on the right side of the flock of Canada Geese at Scenic
View Golf Course.

Yesterday (Saturday) evening I led a Spring Equinox woodcock walk for NYC
Audubon to Floyd Bennett Field.
We arrived around 6pm, so didn't have too much time to look for birds before
sunset at 7. In that time, we found some nice early migrants: a pair of
Killdeer, numerous singing Red-winged
Only thing of note since I’ve only seen reports upstate - a pair of Savannah
Sparrows on the parade grounds this afternoon.
