Pond this weekend. Guess they could cancel or switch to kayaking? Maybe a
bucket brigade...teach the young uns the privilege of shorebirding does not
come easy.

The West Side Ravens have been in the West 40s the last few days. Right now in
Gotham West 43/11th, yesterday on the USS Intrepid. Only 3 birds though,
thought they fledged more young.

The previously reported Red Phalarope is still present as of this writing at
the blind west of the parking lot at the Roosevelt Nature Center at Jones
Beach. A lifer for my friend Carol!

people, keep those e-mails and phone calls into NPS, we must convince them
that they have to take appropriate action to try and salvage this shorebird
After hanging around for 2 hours and missing the bird yesterday morning, I
deserted my wife for breakfast today to try again. This time it paid off, as
the bird was there and was close to the edge of the pond west of the bird
blind. Attached is a link to a video.

happily feeding at 8:45AM when I left. Thanks to Drew H for putting me on the
