This observation by David may help explain the migration/radar disconnect we
have been observing. Perhaps when birds migrate under cloudy conditions, they
are more likely to fly low and therefore escape detection by radar.
Happy spring birding

At Hempstead Lake State Park this morning among the Barn and Tree Swallows,
a single Bank Swallow and Cliff Swallow put in an appearance at the South
Pond. A Northern Rough-winged Swallow was on MacDonald's Pond.

Another Caspian Tern is sitting in Milton Harbor, Rye. There are a few
thousand gulls here ( Herring, Ring-billed, a few Great Black-backed.)
Otherwise migration is still slow. Bob Shriber had a Whip-poor-will singing
in Mamaroneck last evening.

Also - related to one of the unfortunate consequences of these conditions;
I wonder if concerned folks might have checked local

A Caspian tern continues to drop in at the lake in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.
Mile Yuan spotted it this morning and tweeted in time for me to get on it.
