[nysbirds-l] eBird.org: Recent Additions to County Checklists

2016-12-24 Thread Ben Cacace
When working on the NYS eBird Hotspots wiki I compare the previous bar
chart list of species with the current one to pick up any additions or
deletions. By going to each county's 'Overview' page you can find the date
the species was added for each county.

For each county on the wiki click the 'Overview' link on the 'Explore a
Location' line:

Yellow highlights a species added for the first time this year.

*Broome County:*
Ross's Goose (18-Dec-2016) [checklist w/photo]

*Onondaga County:*
Black-headed Gull (4-Oct-2016) [checklist w/photo]

[nysbirds-l] Hendrickson - RH Woodpecker YES, Geese NO

2016-12-24 Thread Tim Healy
Addendum to my previous update about he continuing BHGU and ROGO: the
Red-headed Woodpecker at Valley Stream's Hendrickson Park is still present in
the same spot. The Pink-footed and Cackling Geese were not seen during the time
I was there. Hope everyone has a merry weekend.

Cheers!

Re: [nysbirds-l] Updates on RMSP Ross's Geese?

2016-12-24 Thread Tim Healy
I had a single Ross's Goose with 14 Canadas at the roundabout round about an
hour ago. I only stayed for 10 minutes and got good car views of the loner in
the rain. Second bird was absent.

The Cammans Pond Black-headed Gull was also present and conducive to
car-birding. I'm currently at Hendrickson but have not yet found any of the
recent rarities.

Cheers!

[nysbirds-l] NYS eBird Hotspots: Two Changes to Wikipages

2016-12-24 Thread Ben Cacace
I've made two changes to the State and County pages along with the top 10
location pages for the top 15 counties.

The first modification changes the default sort on the 'Overview' page. It
now sorts with the most recently discovered additions for the State, County
and top 10 locations appearing at the top of the list. The other ways of
sorting are still available. Just click on the headings 'Last Seen' and
'High Counts'. The 'Overview' links appear on the 'Explore a Location' line
above the Bar Charts table for the State & County pages and on the 'eBird
Links' on the location pages.

The other change is to the Bar Charts table. I've added a link to produce a
Bar Chart for the previous month as well as the 'current month'. When I
update the pages near the end of the month there is a loss of a few days to
pull the current month which can be accessed with the prior month URL.
You'll see what I mean. I like using this part of the wiki to quickly get
to the timeframe I'm looking for and when working with locations that have
multiple sub-locations as it is the quickest way to get there without
having to manually add multiple sub-locations when pulling them directly
from eBird.

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app
on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your
