On my way home from shopping on Saturday afternoon, the above bird flew across Ostrander Ave, between Route 58 & Middle Rd, Riverhead. It landed in a tree behind the empty bank building, and in the time it took to bring my binoculars into play, the Rough-legged was gone. I rode around for awhile

Hello all, I re-found the Mew Gull at Floyd Bennet Field around 3:00 PM. I first saw it flying from east to west towards the Marine Parkway bridge (see attached photo), where I found it again. Unfortunately, I could not get close photos without flushing any of the gulls. Good luck to anyone who

A number of people have reached out asking for more details regarding the Mew Gull discovered at Floyd Bennett Field yesterday so I am replying here. The bird is an/the adult Mew Gull which appears to be the brachyrhynchus subspecies of western North America. It was first seen at roughly 1:35pm

A walk out to Teller’s Point (southern tip of Croton Point Park yielded a very cooperative Female Black Scoter (a really good bird for the point; I believe my first), also one M adult sharp shinned hawk, and at least a dozen bald eagles (six circling together just above the camp ground) Sent
