Hi all,
I can't believe I missed out on all those awesome birds today! That's what
happens when your power goes out and you can't check email and you don't think
of going out looking for pelagics. I was thinking of going out tomorrow
morning but does anyone think things will be gone by

Just got this from John Votta in NJ who wanted to me to send it to the NY
listserv. I couldn't see any photo but maybe someone else can. If it's true
then it would be an awesome bird.

The juvenile White Ibis in Park Ridge, just south of the NY border in Bergen
Co., was still at the Silver Lake off of Mill Rd. as of about 9am this
morning. It was on the north end where the river comes out by the sand bar and
was feeding along the far shore and on the land. Quite nice views.
Had a first year juvenile Bald Eagle flying over the marsh/pond that is south
of Franklinton Vlaie in Franklinton on Rte. 145. Probably one of the young
from Franklinton? Possibly.

Went to Read Sanctuary this am from 8am to 8:30 with no pelican in sight. The
usual wintering waterfowl were around plus a couple of male Cooper's Hawks at
close range but no Brown Pelican. Oh well.
