Vesper Sparrow at Jones Beach spotted by Rob Taylor and myself. I saw a few
people at the beach so wanted to let you guys know. Unfortunately the bird went
into the bushes because a car went by. We left the bird with two other birders
as we had to leave, south side of median, by itself. Will

northern parula, and a just seen winter wren I spotted by the men's bathroom

The previously reported philly vireo was just seen with two red-eyed vireos and
some other warblers on the western dirt path as you walk towards the dog walk.

Virginia Rail, got a great look at this guy who came out feet in front of us
Birded the Jones Beach Ponds this AM with Rob Taylor.
Ponds are still very active.
Birds included:
Virginia Rail adult with Juvenile
Sora
Pectoral Sandpipers (3 seen)
Stilt Sandpiper
White-Rumped Sandpiper
Blue-Winged Teal
Red Knots (several)

Didn't spend a lot of time but there are plenty of blackpolls, magnolia, and
American redstarts around. Also there are many red-eyed vireos and I saw a
single willow flycatcher.

I was unsuccessful at locating the Wilson's Phalarope early this morning at
Captree Island. Tide and windy weather conditions did not help. I then moved
onto Jones.

This morning before heading to HLSP, I did a quick walk through of Valley
Stream. A single Raven flew over carrying sticks in its beak. It was being
harassed by two crows. With all the Raven sightings going on in this area, I
wonder if this is indicative of a pair trying to nest.
