Had an adult Brown Booby about 30 mins ago from the Staten Island ferry heading
east toward the Bush Terminal Piers area. Could be visible from various points
along the Brooklyn waterfront or Governor’s Island.

An adult Brown Booby was first found in NJ very close to NY waters. I was
able to re find it clearly on the New York side along with Seth Wollney.
Best public access to where it was flying around is at the intersection of

The adult Brown Booby continues. I observed it at 6:22pm perched with several
DC Cormorants on the yellow data collection float located west of the bridge on
Reservoir Road. Earlier observers saw it here and feeding near the rocky shoal
well east of the bridge.

west (scope necessary). Bird is on top of big yellowish platform with solar
panels occupied by cormorants. Apparently was much closer to road earlier.
No sign yet of American White Pelican.

At little before 7am today, an adult Brown Booby flew west to east past our
vantage at Field 2 at Robert Moses State Park in Suffolk County.
Otherwise a very unproductive seawatch.

Sorry for the barrage of emails, but in case anyone was interested the bird
has been seen on the Super Hawk and Captain Al out of Point Lookout the
last few day. It was also seen out of Freeport on the Captain Lou. My
mistake the bird is not quite an adult.

FYI yesterday the booby was frequenting the south end of Lake Montauk and was
perched on the mast of a boat with a dark blue hull. Views were from the beach
at the end of South Lake Drive. When it's roosting at this location one can

The Brown Booby is alive and well this (Wednesday) morning. It is preening atop

I had nothing else to do so went back to Montauk (I have a summer house in
east hampton). Brown Booby still present occassionally feeding.

Back on the blue boat at South Lake Drive. This perch is much closer to shore
than the North one, MUCH better views. All the borders currently seem to be at
the other end of the lake.

While watching the Brown Booby, we have seen the bird soar around, dive for
fish, and then return to the mast of the moored sailboat (Maui). So if the
bird is not immediately seen, give it some time.
