I found the Red-headed Woodpecker in the grass along the northern end of Bay
parkway, about 1/3 of the way between the Field 10 fishing piers and the
Meadowbrook turnoff at about 7:45. It flew slightly east along the median, and
others saw it in the median actively feeding / flying shortly afterwards. The 2
Gull-billed Terns were not present at the Coast Guard Station around 8, but by
9:30 they were roosting on the sandbar at high tide. Hempstead Lake State Park
was very quiet with a few migrants - N Waterthrush, Parula, Palm, B&W warblers,
Blue-headed Vireo, but no sign of the Yellow-throated Warbler
