Sunday, Christmas Day, 25 December 2016
As noted to this list, the Pink-footed Goose was present with a nearby
Snow Goose, & perhaps 500++ Canada Geese as well as a brief look at
what may have been a Richardson's Cackling Goose, all at the north-
most end of the Van Cortlandt Park Parade Grounds, as of 4:15 & just
afterwards (to sunset) in the west Bronx (NYC) - the geese perhaps
staying where it was not as likely they'd be harassed by non-birders
who, as noted, sometimes do intentionally run after or set dogs after
the geese at this site, for no good reasons; it happens - even though
by far the majority of park users do not behave in these ways towards
wildlife at that park & at the least, the geese are fairly cautious
about what is happening in their feeding areas! Photos of the geese
were again obtained in end-of day sun.
Peace - & good birding,
Tom Fiore
