I arrived at the Shawangunk Grasslands this morning at about 6:45 am and found
the bird right where Curt said they had seen it. It even posed for me. Thanks
to Tom-Gail and the McDermotts.

On path on hillside that runs parallel to the stream. Near the picnic grounds.
If you park in main lot go straight up the steep hill and make a right on the
dirt path with the little concrete wall that borders the picnic area. Bird was
on the hillside looking down over the lake.

Greetings all
I plan to look for birds on Long Island the week of May 13th, starting on the
North Fork, between Orient and Riverhead , and ending up towards the western
end of the island. (not in one day!)
I am wondering how the birding might be compared for Jones Beach and Nickerson
County
The SMITH'S LONGSPUR is present right now about 150 ft. north of the three
boulders northeast of the parking lot at Shawangunk Grasslands NWR near
Wallkill NY.

First the hummers are in around noon. Then one of the Broadwings grabs a mouse
or vole about 10 feet away and now another FOS. And this was a day sitting at
home preparing for a trial.

On the path behind the baseball field across the street from Oakland Lake,
there is a path bordering a patch of wetland there and I found a Prairie
Warbler and heard a singing Blue-winged warbler. Also warbling vireo, yellow
warbler, black-and-white.
At Oakland lake also got Parulas,
