Tues., 20 May 2014 - Riverside Park drip, Manhattan, N.Y. City
In the mid-day and late afternoon hours, Jeff Nulle kept track of some
migrants that were visiting the drip area, were coming in to bathe
/or drink there, with a highlight of a Bay-breasted Warbler doing
just that. There were

Alan all,
and if by Mourning at sparrow rock you mean to report a Mourning
Warbler in Central Park Manhattan NYC at a location that is known to
some birders to be on the east side of the park's West Drive at
approx. W. 83-84th St. vicinity, and is a low rocky rise with lawn
some trees
Alan all,
Er, ah... a Kentucky Warbler at Tanner's Spring? With a Mourning just
across the road?
this is sounding like the makings of a fairly active day... with
possible storms due in later!
Tanner's Spring is about 100 yards northeast of the entrance to
Central Park at W. 81 St.

With a few more than a few observers, still more seeking, both of
the regular-in-spring Oporornis [genus] warblers (of this region) have
been found in one area this a.m. in the 'Tanner's Spring' vicinity,
just north just inside
I saw and heard a singing Bicknell's Thrush at close range at the extreme
northern tip of Strawberry Fields in Central Park this morning at 10:30. It
appeared to move into the brushy area just to the west, beyond the trees,
and I heard it sing again before leaving.

I just had a Bicknell's Thrush sing in my yard. Saw what was probably the
same bird a few hours ago out of my kitchen window. Went outside and just
now and heard it singing a few times. I am in Staten Island. If anyone
wants to try and come, email me with your number and I will call you. But

A big thanks to Shai Mitra for his report! I was able to get over to
Willowbrook by 2pm and there was still plenty of activity!
The highlight were pulverizing looks at an adult male SUMMER TANAGER! Seen from
the first stream bridge when you encoutner when entering from the archery
range. It
Wed., 21 May, 2014 - Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City
Another very good day, and this time a fair number of specialties
could still be found in the mid-day later hours. A Pied-billed Grebe
is running quite late at the reservoir, this individual there at least
since 17 May. A

The Sunken Meadow Summer Tanager was singing in the big trees southeast of the
main entrance bridge (where you drive in). So if you park in the main lot, walk
south over the entrance bridge and turn left, focusing on the big trees to the
south. The Willowbrook bird was in the woods between the
