I believe this is only true on the later 307 equipped big cars (Cadillac's,
etc) after '87 or so.
No G-body 307 powered Olds ever received a knock sensor to my knowledge. I
know my '87 307 didn't have one nor my '85.

Yes, get the vac. advance. Only on drag strip race cars, I'd go with just
the mechanical.

I was going to suggest that you bolt the knock sensor into the head or the
block directly, so it will be able to pick up the shock well. There should
be good points to use, for example the (unused) accessory threads on the
backside of the head(s). You may have to enlarge the threaded hole, but
I have a friend with a 69 cutlass with a 455, the guy mostly just cruises
his car. But over revved it a few months ago spinning a brg.
Well the engine is back under the hood, he wants a msd ignition system. With

A knock sensor is used on most 1982-1988 olds v-8 with computer controlled
timing, the single wire sensor is screwed into a water jacket drain hole on
rt side of the engine.
I'm not sure what the 2 wire sensor is,

In 85 it probably would have been a computer controlled carb.
A 2-wire connector could be the MCS (Mixture Control Solenoid). Are
you sure there isn't one more, 3-wire connector, at the front left of
the carb?
I think that Cadillac Fleetwoods using the 307 in the very early 90s
used a knock sens
Ken,
I know my '93 Cutlass convert with the 3.4 has a knock sensor. I had it off
when I did the engine rebuild. There are probably other Olds engines in that
era with the same thing.

Listmembers,
Once I get the Starfire's 231 rebuild finished and some work on Chelsea's
RX-7 done I'll be back at work on the 85 GMC truck with a genuine Olds 350 for
power. I have a question or two:
1) The previous powerplant (305 Brand C) had a distributor that was equipped
with a computer t

Bill,
switch to 4Bl Go with Torker or o4b?
Don't use a Torker, unless you have a high RPM hot engine. Use the O4B or
use my favorite, an Offy 360 Degree Equa-Flow high rise.
I have a edlebrock carb from the 350 (have to figure which one)and I have
