I solved a couple problems like that by building
my own crossmember. Got a MIG welder?
My 82 Cutlass has the trans mount sitting down
INSIDE the cross member. This from MTS, lets
me mount a 400 (and duals) in this chassis.

the guy at GV about installation and one of the
changes to make it fit I recall was turning the cross
member upside down for the Olds. He had mentioned a
modification may still be needed depending on your
exhaust pipe fit. He sent me a dr

This a 70 frame that I know is not bent. Disregard
the rusty body, I set it on the frame for storage last
fall.

What I ended up doing is probably totally wrong.
Please bring on the dangers of this installation.
There's nothing wrong with putting the crossmember under the frame. It's
okay. However, there is one very big item you need to look at. Puting the
crossmember under the frame will lower

now after trying to install this Gear Vendors unit today. Just kidding.
Today did not go real smoothly though. I had beating my tranny tunnel
to what I've heard is approximately the right height. Took the tranny
crossmember
