Karen, As an Optometrist I will comment on your night blindness isssue. First, Milton is right, stick with the round halogens. Second if the problem has started since your last eye exam, get one. Sometimes the refractive power of the eye can change, and we will notice it more so in low light

I just replaced my stock halogens with a set of Sylvania Silverstars in my '98 Intrigue. These are a really good upgrade for the money. You get a whiter light (supposed to be in the 4000*K range) but they aren't supposed to be any brighter than stock. Although it is easier to see at night now.
