Crane has the **best** cam break-in lubricants in the world. Also, GM EOS is
extremely high in zinc. You can buy it at any GM parts deptartment.

Subject: Zinc for flat tappet cam breakin
I am not sure if I saw it here or somewhere else, but the topic of oils to
use for engine and cam break in came up in conversation with the machine
shop who is rebuilding my engine. Todays oils have very little if any zinc
additives as part of their content. Zinc is required to properly break in
a flat tappet cam. Does anyone know if there is a zinc additive available
to add to the oil for initial breakin of the engine and cam. The machine
shop was aware of the issue but did not know of an effective additive. Any
thoughts?
