Jeff,

You will have a problem using a vented gas cap on your '65 A-body. The gas fill is located at the bumper level. When you acelerate, gas will wash out the filler tube through the vented gas cap. That's why you can't find a vented gas cap for your car. You're not going to have much choice other than venting your tank the regular way. With the tank off the car, it would be easy to silver solder a brass 1/4" fuel fitting into an upper corner. Then run the rubber vent line up into the body hump over the rear axle as normal. You don't need your old tank for that.

Subject: year one '65 gas tank

Hi all,
I bought a new gas tank for my '65 Cutlass and of course it didnt have the filler neck, so I had to have a local bodyshop weld the old one on, good to go. Then I noticed it didnt have the vent tube on the gas tank and I had already trashed my old tank! So I decided to get a vented gas cap, that would do the trick right? Well I cant seem to find one that will fit the original filler neck. If I use the original non-vented cap what kind of problems will I have? Does anyone have a part # of a vented cap that will work for the '65 non-vented neck? Anybody else run into this problem?
 Thanks, Jeff
