Just finished installing 1.4.0.4 and trying to setup the proximity
stuff, getting these errors below. It is also taking A LONG TIME
(5+ minutes, 1.4.0.2 finished in 15 seconds).

Those prototype mismatch warnings are because you're running on
Ubuntu Intrepid and there's a known problem in perl 5.10 on Intrepid
for which I opened a bug and submitted a patch:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/perl/+bug/303765 - it
shouldn't change the results of running
