I have never used the wxWindows Lib so i can't give an opinion on that but
i have used others, (OWL,MFC,VCL)
and i advise to stay away from MFC - and VC++.
Borland have a great package and the VCL is not bad, and OWL is far better
than MFC.
MFC is way harder to use then the others.

improved from HC's "do"
command
if you could do that then you wouldnt have to have both do and send.

"Lingo"
It is a good name (pitty about the language though ;-0 )
anyway, maybe "FreeTalk" is the way to go. It was just a thought.

they are all pretty much the same language with small modifications. It
could be done.

, hopefully by the time openKard is complete XCML will be
finnished and tested and have a browser/interpreter.
I could always just write a converter like i have for Hypercard to start
with anyway.

. I thought it would be perfect
I have started making an editor for XCML that looks and works very similar
to HyperCard. I think i should concentrate on the interpreter at the moment
though.

M. Uli Kusterer:
AppleScript and Frontier will be available on the Mac via the Open
Scripting Architecture (OSA), so this shouldn't be a problem. However,
Lingo is (c) Macromedia, which makes me doubt we can use it. Also, it's
pretty much xTalk with a different metaphor, and since we don't have
MaxCard

why not revive the origonal name or make a variant of it.

I dont like VolksCard, it sounds like something you put in your car.

** If you mean running HyperTalk scripts using a Java application, forget it.
*It's going to be *very* slow. If it's some kind of Java Plug-In, this is
*something that could come out of OpenCard anyway since the interpreter *can
*stand alone So, if someone's interested, they can create this, but

After the DeRobertis hatred of applescript could i dare to ask if opencard will
have support for other languages like applescript as hypercard does?

to use the GNU C compiler which supports C++, C and

This would make us favorable with the opensource movment.

Has anyone put any thought into custom objects or anything like that? I understand
that Serf is supporting classes..the most commonly used will be button and field
of cource.
Could we do something like that?. A little like ActiveX maybe?

Which reminds me that I wanted to make a recommendation
to the programming team that we contact the GNOME folks
and add AppleScript like funcitonality using OpenCard
to GNOME
Julian:
Why GNOME?
KDE is actually much nicer to work with and supports a mac like
interface as well as a windows like
