>Anthony: But then we'd have nothing to talk about here <g>.

Alain: The licencing issue has indeed gotten a lot of coverage lately.
This is as it should be given the importance of this sensitive issue.
But :

Alain: (1) It is not the only thing being discussed on our list. There
is a fair amount of posts about the ongoing interpreters. BugTracker.
There has been many posts in the ongoing political debate.

Alain: (2) Mail Filters are quite easy to implement, particularly if
the subject heading of members posts were normalized. Tomorrow, I will
propose a set of subject headings and guidelines, and encourage our
members to use them. It is in the best-interest of everyone.

Alain: (3) The licencing issue is nearly resolved. We won't need to
discuss it much longer. And it is not likely to come up often again,
afterwards. Thus a mailing list for the licencing issue would most
likely be useless.

>Anthony: I think we should split the list, however.

Alain: Perhaps, but I don't believe that it is time for that yet. There
are approximately 25 messages per day. It's not that bad. And splitting
up would complicate communication, particularly on issues that involve
more than one sub-group. Some lists would become ghost-towns because so
few people would participate in any given sub-list.

>Anthony: Let's have some suggestions about
>how to split it.

Alain: Here's my suggestion. Let's split up our WebSpace (FTP server
and corresponding Web site) instead of our mailing list. I have begun
this by creating a hierarchy of folders whose root is at the same level
as OpenCard and is named "OODL".
