This is ultimately up to the OHA and not Ascender.
I've come accross a repository where someone intends to work on Droid: http://code.google.com/p/droid-font-hacks But no sign of it being official. The licensing issue is still not clarified: http://code.google.com/p/droid-font-hacks/issues/detail?id=2 With the delay on the Android release, does anyone has more information on this? Aside from the promise of a Apache license of course? Has anyone approached them to advocate a font-specific license that would engage more designers? BTW there's a video by the designer hired to work on this font family over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxbzE_JAs3A -- Nicolas Spalinger http://scripts.sil.org http://pkg-fonts.alioth.debian.org https://launchpad.net/people/fonts
