I found the problem. ffmpeg requires a system install program, which
is not in the path by default. I symlink'd the one from /usr/ucb and
things work as they should.

package builds fine, the problem appears to be during file
detection/installation. There are many files in /etc/ it is looking
at, which seems very strange.
