I installed via the network ( who doesn't these days ? ) and upon first

Solaris version of flashplayer 9 plugin seems to have disappeared from the
 Adobe d/l site:

 http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer9.html

Anyone knows anything about this? Thanks.

Near as I can tell Adobe seems to be in a state of war with Solaris users.
If I goto http://www.shockwave.com/home.jsp with my browser [ Mozilla/5.0
(X11; U; SunOS i86pc; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070531 SeaMonkey/1.1.2 ]
then I get the usual bunch of alerts and popups that all tell me I need to
download a plugin. I note that I can click on some download now button
on the site and I am presented with a box that says :

Adobe Flash Player Download Center
Solaris x86

+ a big dumb button that says download now

If I click on that button I get the following Sparc software :

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_7_solaris_sparc.tar.gz

Its almost as if someone somewhere just wants Solaris x86 to curl up and die
already. Thank you.

Be damned if I understand what the issues are. I think the issue is Adobe.

gets confused by the unstable nature of time in a VM (particularly if

that should be getting fixed soon.

Is there any VMware-tools for Solaris package which works with Solaris

Ah this does sound encouraging. Though it's still confusing why
the download page says Solarisx86 and points to a Sparc version.
It did at one time point to x86 versions. But maybe this an Adobe
web page problem.

Will ZFS be more stable on its native OS or in userland on Linux? It
could be stable on both but I suspect a risk averse decision maker would
use ZFS on a Solaris and one of the more well-supported filesystems for
Linux...

If your webcam need firmware, then you have to develop a firmware
download driver or tool first. I tested several logitech webcams before,
they works well with usbvc(7D) driver and ekiga. More detail see my blog.
