WRT win32 builds - The compiler / linker flags and directives need a good going over. I have a feeling some may be already deprecated by MS. Most of these have been carried through since 0.4/0.6 days. Additional ones will be need soon - especially "NO_CRYPTO" to avoid conflicts with MS
